Who are you?
I'm Andrew, the drummer for a band called Glitch & Pilgrim. I've been playing for over 16 years now and it's time to start passing on what I know and what I've learned.Â
Is learning to drum hard?
Drumming can be difficult to master, and you might need a few years of practice to get good. Out of all of the instruments, drums may be one of the hardest to learn. The reason is you have to use both hands and both feet to do different things at the same time.
Am I too old to learn to play?
At the end of the day, it is never too late to learn to play the drums. Taking drum classes in adulthood will be one of the best journeys you take in life. Whether you are 30, 50, or 70, you can learn to play the drums, and Music. We would love to help you learn.
Is playing the drums good exercise?
Playing the drums is considered an excellent workout. It gets your heart pumping and makes for enjoyable cardio. While you can use it to replace other workouts, consider adding it to your fitness regimen.
Why is drumming so impactful?
Drumming and rhythm are powerful tools as they permeate the entire brain. The sound of drumming generates neuronal connections in all parts of the brain, even where there is significant damage or impairment, such as in ADHD.
Do drummers think differently?
Over years of practice, drummers appear to modify the way that the two sides of their brain communicate. According to a recent study, the cabling that runs between the two hemispheres of a drummer's brain is significantly different from non-musicians.
Whats the first thing drummers should learn?
An excellent first step is to learn to hold your drumsticks. Working with the drumsticks is what you need to do while drumming. You will learn to play basic beats, and it will prove rewarding since, after learning them, drumming will become easy for you.
What is the 80/20 rule in drumming?
The 80/20 Rule in drumming is the idea that 80% of your drumming should be focused on perfecting the basics, while only 20% is used to practice challenging techniques and fills.
Why do drummers cross their arms?
Many drummers cross their arms to allow their dominant hand to strike the hi-hat which is which is most frequently used. The hi-hat is usually placed to the left of the drummer and if right-handed, their dominant hand will need to cross over. Open-handed drumming can also be used.
